HONYLITE has opted to support a group of students from IIT Bombay who are united by their passion for engineering and their desire to fulfill the dream of putting India on the world map of race car manufacturers. Since its inception in 2008, IIT Bombay Racing Team has targeted excellence at the premier SAE Collegiate Design Competition, Formula SAE Competition and Baja SAE Competition. Inspired by the opportunity to work hands-on with automotive technology to design, manufacture and race a vehicle, over 100 students have been involved with IIT Bombay Racing Team, through its successful participation at 3 major competitions. This year, the team is all geared up to fabricate a high-performance car, which would participate in FS UK 2015, thus moving a step closer to its vision of "Revolutionizing Electric Mobility in India, focusing on Sustainable Technologies and Innovation". HONYLITE will supply aluminum honeycomb panels, aerospace grade aluminum sheets, adhesives and expertise to help IIT Bombay Racing Team achieve success in the competition. HONYLITE wishes IIT Bombay Racing Team all the best for the upcoming event.
The BMW i8, first introduced as the BMW Concept Vision Efficient Dynamics, is a plug-in hybrid sports car developed by BMW. Team Indus is an aerospace start-up. They are involved in designing and developing Lander and Rover for a mission to the Moon as a part of a global competition Google Lunar X Prize (GLXP). The competition encourages privately funded enterprises worldwide to explore the Moon and prove their capabilities. The main objectives of the competition are to softly land a spacecraft on to the Moon's surface, deploy a rover that will traverse a minimum distance of 500m and capture panoramic photographs, videos and transmit data back to the Earth. To achieve these objectives, Team Indus was founded in 2012, and moved to Bangalore in 2013 in order to work more closely with the local aerospace ecosystem. They have developed a Lunar Landing Module (named HHK-1) that will be launched by an ISRO PSLV rocket and land autonomously onto the Moon's surface. HHK-1 will carry a robotic micro-rover (named ECA) which will be equipped with a stereo-pair of High-Definition cameras mounted on a mast in addition to other scientific and navigation equipment. HONYLITE supplies Team Indus the complete fabricated Honeycomb Deck using aerospace grade aluminum honeycomb panels in a very short span of just 16 days.
